Steam Next Fest is over: what to do with those demo discoveries

Valve's October demo event ended October 26, but your wishlist and notes can still be useful.

Valve's October 2026 Steam Next Fest ran 19–26 October, ending at 10:00 am Pacific Daylight Time on the 26th. The event highlighted playable demos, developer livestreams and unreleased games. Its end doesn't mean every demo is still available—or that every showcased game now has a release date.

Make the wishlist actually useful

If you tried multiple demos and forgot which was which, revisit the relevant Steam store pages. Compare the current description with what you played, watch for official release announcements, and remove titles that only appealed because they were temporarily trending. Your wishlist should reflect games you'd consider buying, not everything you clicked.

What demos can and can't prove

A demo can reveal how movement, combat, puzzles or UI feel on your actual PC. It may not represent the final game's optimisation, narrative length, accessibility or progression. Treat your own impressions as evidence about that build rather than a verdict on an unreleased product.

Where rankings can mislead

Valve's documentation mentions a post-event wrap-up featuring the most-played demos. A demo's play count reflects interest during a particular window, not independent quality, long-term retention or sales. Don't confuse visibility with a score.

What's next on Steam?

Valve's published event schedule also lists Steam Scream V for October 26–November 2 and an Auto-Battler RPG Fest for November 16–23, both dated in Pacific time. These are different promotional events, not another Next Fest. Check Valve's schedule for subsequent changes.
